Another busy week in Room 131 is on the way as we make our push toward Spring Break and the end of the 3rd Quarter on March 24th. Last week, my Mother had major surgery and is now doing very well. I would like to once again thank the students of Room 131 for all they did to make things great for me and my mom. They really are the best fifth grade class in America.
Hopefully, by now, you student has told you all about the Southern Research Projects. This week we will be starting full-blast with our in school research and note-taking. Monday, the students will be learning about paraphrasing and finding important details. Tuesday, students will need to have at least 50 index cards to write down their information. Using these cards students will be able to easily organize their writing. If you are wondering about which kind of card to get, I have found a great pack at Staples for a very low price. Any 3 x 5 index card will do though.
I have again loaded the information that is necessary to know about for the Southern Research project at the end of this blog. (I am at home now, but I should have it loaded by the end of the evening.)
The students of our classroom have a great understanding of what needs to be done to be successful, but please make sure that we are all doing our best to help them reach their lofty goals. We have just finished the second quarter conferences and spent a lot of time thinking and talking about goals. I ask that we all (including students) continue to work toward bettering ourselves and inching ever closer to a successful school-year.
Please continue to use our classroom website to its fullest extent to keep informed about the daily happenings in our classroom. There is a lot of information out there available at your fingertips. This information will help all of us reach our goals and be ready for whatever lies ahead!
Make this week great, or not. The choice is yours!
